“Christian practices are things Christians do together over time to address fundamental human needs in light of and in response to God’s grace to all creation through Christ Jesus. Practices resist separating thinking from acting, and thus Christian doctrine from Christian life.”

Sermon: "Trust Issues" (Joel Shenk, pastor)
Scripture: Psalm 130
Focus: In the pages of scripture, the words trust and belief and faith, are used almost interchangeably. But these are not abstract concepts that some people get and others don’t. Rather, trust is the precious reward of a life lived following God’s leading. We learn to trust by watching and waiting for God. We help others to trust when we share how God has answered us.

Sermon: " Studying the Word" (Joel Shenk, pastor)
Scriptures: Psalm 119:9-16; Matthew 16:13-16; Acts 17:11-12
Focus: The Christian study of God’s word involves three things: 1) The study of God’s written word, the scripture, 2) The study of God’s incarnate word whom the scriptures reveal (Jesus), and 3) study within the Christian community directed by God’s spirit. This kind of study is not a distant, abstract study, but a self-involving study that leads us into relationship with God and with others. To put it another way, we will look at 1) Studying the Bible, 2) Studying Jesus, and 3) Studying with others.
